Habits for a clean home

During the last couple of years my cleaning habits have gone from ZERO to HERO. (for real)

When I was young I used to see my mother clean the house a l l  d a y  l o n g and I couldn’t see myself spend the rest of my life cleaning the house, that was not my purpose and that’s why I never cared enough to do my housework.

Since I started living with my bf it became a necessity to clean the apartment (unless I didn’t want to live with grease, dirty and cat fur LOL).

And yes, it took me two years to find a balance between housekeeping and becoming a Girl Boss.

That’s why I’m here to give you the best tips and habits to have the control of your home in the fastest and easiest way!

Everything has a place

Make a place for everything and make sure to put it back after you’ve used it.
Using something, and leaving it right where you used it, it’s the easiest way to make your house messy. 
This is a great habit that it’s going to make cleaning easier if everything is back to its place!

Wake up to a clean kitchen

There’s no worse thing that to wake up to a sink filled with dirty dishes. That’s my nightmare!

Before going to bed, grab your phone and set a timer of 10 minutes to load your dishwasher (or wash by hand).
It’s that easy!

Set a day for your weekly tasks

I like to have fresh sheets whenever I have shampooed my hair. Since I wash my hair once a week, I make sure to change the bedding on the same day (usually on friday or saturday) .

A room A day

This is how I started having good habits around housekeeping. You better not miss this tip!

On your planner (or calendar) set a day for each room of your house (if they’re more than 7 batch similar rooms – like 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms etc..), this way you won’t have to spend the all day cleaning the house and in a couple of hourse (or less) you’re ready to slay your day without worrying about your housework!

Put clothes away

OMG I was so bad at this! 
Once a friend came over without calling and one of my bras was hanging on one of the chairs in the kitchen, SO EMBARASSING!

As stated by A Stress Free Life, ” Studies find that clothes that are not put away usually means closet storage is crowded, not well lit”, so put some LED lights in your closet and organize your clothes at least once a quarter, to avoid any mess!

Make your bed in the morning

I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times but this is the real deal!
Making your bed is the first step to a productive day!

Have you ever considered making a homemade multi-purpose cleaner?

Since I have made this, I use it to clean my dinner table, my kitchen counters and every surface it’s safe to use on! (it contains vinegar and it’s not recommended on marble and other stone surfaces)

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1/2 cup of vinegar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of dish soap
  • 20/30 drops of lemon essential oil
