I’ve struggled for years to be able to wake up early.
I’ve never been the type of person that wakes up every day at 10, my usual time has always been between 8 and 9 but it wasn’t enough.
When you wake up “late” you miss one big chunk of the day, especially if you always feel and say “I don’t have enough time to do what I need to”, “24 hours aren’t enough for me”, etc…
That’s why I’m here with this post to give you the right motivations and tips to wake up every day early!
Why you should wake up early
Let’s start with the whys so that you can get an instant motivation boost!
Imagine having 3 or 4 hours plus in your day, how can you spend them?
I’d advise you to use those extra hours for yourself: you can meditate, take a long hot bath, you can work out and/or plan your day (in case you haven’t the night before).
Every sleep hour counts
Choose your wake up hour goal and according to that, try to go to bed at the same time every single day.
You can’t go to bed at 1 am and expect your body to be awake and fresh at 6 am!
You need to rest your body to be ready to slay the day!
Don’t hate your alarm
When I used to have that HORRIBLE iPhone alarm to wake me up, I stopped it and, quite annoyed, got back to sleep.
If your alarm is annoying, too loud, too “beep beep” or whatever… CHANGE IT!
Choose an high vibe song, a song that makes you smile, that makes you feel motivated… yes, pick that song and I promise you, you will LOVE waking up early!
ps: my alarm is the song “Perfume – Dream Fighter” has great lyrics about goal achievement and it’s really powerful.
Tie a task to your wake up time
Even if you have your day planned, you may convince yourself to “sleep 5 more minutes” (that easily become 30 or more).
To avoid that, choose a task you want or need to do as soon as you wake up, that might be working out, watering the plants (that’s my task!), drink lemon water etc…
5 seconds rule
As stated in the book The Five Second Rule :
The moment you have an instinct to act on a goal you must 5-4-3-2-1 and physically move or your brain will stop you
So, when the alarm goes off, take a deep breath and count from five to 1 and… GET UP.
You can use this simple trick for anything.
As you will stop stressing yourself out because you haven’t been able to wake up early till now, relax and just follow these tips, you will slowly notice a shift in your mind and you will think “why haven’t I woken up at this time earlier?”.
You will fall in love with how you feel when you’re a Girl Boss aligned and productive while the rest of the world is still sleeping!
