How to: Crystal Cleansing

When you buy a new crystal or stone the first thing to do, before you work with it, it’s to cleanse it, remove all the negative energy that the stone has absorbed while it was removed from the rocks, it was cut etc… till the seller that sold it to you.. too many hands have touched it, too many different energies and we don’t want them in our lives right?

So let’s start and see all the methods used to cleanse our beloved and magical crystals!

Smudging (element: air)

This is one of my fav ways to cleanse my crystals. (maybe because air is my element ^^)

Using an incense stick, cone, a smudge stick or incense/herbs on a carbon disc, move the stone in the smoke while holding it in your hand and visualise the smoke becoming black when absorbing the negative energies. Love it!

Running Water (element: water)

When I need to cleanse fast a crystal I put it under running water and let the water cleanse it for a minute or so. But be careful because some crystals get damaged by the water (for eg. the desert rose)

Salt / Salt Water (element: earth)

Salt is great for cleansing and I mostly use it for my tarot cards, not so much for the crystals because salt can change the appearance or properties of some crystals/stones.

A good way to use the salt without doing any harm is to put salt or salt water in a big bowl and put the crystals in a smaller bowl inside the big one, so there is no contact but the salt will still do its job!

Crystal Druse and Geode

Yes! It’s weird but true, crystals can cleanse each other.
They work like trees and plants, they absorb the bad energies, giving out good ones… it’s that easy!
Just put your crystals inside a Geode or on a druse and let them do their job for a couple of days.

Visualization

This is my method when I just bought a new stone and want to wear it immediately…

Hold the stone in your hands, focus on it and move in circular motion your left hand 5cm above the stone. Move it counterclockwise visualising your hand absorbing all the negative energy (imagine it like a black wind, smoke or whatever feels the best for you.
After there’s no more black energy coming out of it shake your left hand to release the energy you’ve absorbed or put your hand on the floor giving the bad vibes back to the earth.

But, now that the crystal is “crystal clear” hahaha how can we charge it?
The easiest method is…

☼ Sunlight / Moonlight ☾

The most “natural” way to charge the crystals is to put them under the rays of the Sun or the Moon.

Let those crystals soak up that positive and powerful energy.

But be careful, some crystals might lose their colour if left at the Sunlight for too long so try not to leave them out there for more than an hour (avoid the hottest hours of the day).

On the contrary, the Moonlight is the safest option!
Of course, I would suggest taking advantage of the Full Moon energy, and let the stones out for at least one night.

Now that your crystals are ready, enjoy their energy and powerful effects!
